Having heated flooring installed in your home can make a huge difference in your heating bills. Normally, central heating or radiator based heating can make big holes in your wallet. But by installing heated floors in your house, you can have more efficient heating and save money in the process.

There are two distinct floor heating systems available on the market today. The first is the old hydronic heating system and the second is the electric system. Hydronic systems are cumbersome and therefore difficult to install. They require pipes to be laid out under the floor in all the rooms that require heating and this process can be messy. It is also messy when you consider the maintenance of this system and especially the replacement of the pipes at regular intervals. It is also a little inefficient in the sense that it loses heat the further away it is from the boiler which supplies the heated water.

Electric systems are very easy to install and require very little maintenance. They can be installed using DIY kits and can be installed independent of one another. This means that each room can have a thermostat and be controlled or used whenever it is needed. This way unused rooms can be left cold unlike the hydronic system where the water is circulated regardless of  whether a room is used or not. The electrical system can heat up the floor quickly and the electric radiant floor heat can warm a room up as well. This can aid you in reducing the usage of your main heating system at home.
