Is Placenta Safe?
26th March 2009
The EMK skincare line has become a big hit among celebrities due to the effectiveness of the core ingredient: placenta protein. However, to the uninitiated, putting human placenta on your face might seem like a farfetched way to look younger. For some, it might even be something of a questionable practice. Are anti wrinkle creams that utilize placenta really that safe to use on your skin?
According to the FDA, the placenta that is used in skin care products is completely safe to use. Before it can be used in any cosmetic product, the placenta is thoroughly washed and processed multiple times. This ensures that any possible viruses or bacteria are destroyed. In addition, the ingredients that are used to bind together the components of these products (referred to as the cosmetic matrix) are not hospitable to any harmful or infectious material that the placenta might have been host to.
